Many years ago a family lived in this hollow of the mountain that is now called the Rock Castle Gorge. This is the entrance into the area called the Rocky Knob Cabins.
Cabins were built by the CCC, the Civilian Conservation Corp. in the 1930's, and until recently were rented to the public.
Winter weather damaged some of the buildings, but it is the hope of many people of all ages that the cabins will reopen someday. I am one of those hopeful ones.
From the beginning of my photography adventures I have continually prayed to see the beauty the way God wants me to see it. It's as if blinders have been removed from my eyes and I am seeing so many things for the first time. On those special moments when downloading photos and I have that "Ahhhhhhh" moment, or that photo that brings tears to my eyes, or a smile to my face, I feel humbled and grateful. It is so easy for me to get lost in the shot, sometimes taking dozens of photos of the same scene; the same flower, leaf, landscape, person ~ whatever image I may be shooting.
