Description
Azalea by Diannah Lynch
The blossoms of the azaleas bring with them the promise of a beautiful season. From the rhododendron family, the azalea's funnel-shaped blossoms and glorious colors add to their beauty.
Nearly every time I see Azalea's blooming, I am reminded of a kind, elderly couple I knew when I was very young. We would save our soup cans for them and they would pick them up when they visited our neighbor.
The couple would venture into the woods, dig the tiny Azalea's and pot them in the soup cans. They would then load them in the back of their truck, park where there was a lot of foot traffic, and sell the potted Azalea's for $1.00 a can. They supplemented their income from these sales, and did very well.
