Alaska Memories by Diannah Lynch

Memories of a special place linger long after leaving. When we arrived at the airport in Anchorage, it was 5:30 am. Our daughter and ten year old grandson picked us up at the airport. We had been enroute 12 hours and I was a little sleepy, having been wide awake the entire trip, from excitement on going to Alaska.



As I nodded off, our grandson kept helping me hold up my head up with his hand under my chin. He was so afraid I was going to miss something, he did this several times. He then had one hand under my chin and the other hand at my forehead, holding my head up most of the way home. He talked all the way home, telling me about each and every spot along the way. It is a wonderful memory.



On our first outing during the daylight hours, I had my camera in hand, ready to capture the beautiful Alaska scenery. The first mountains I saw, I was so overwhelmed that I burst into tea...

From the beginning of my photography adventures I have continually prayed to see the beauty the way God wants me to see it. It's as if blinders have been removed from my eyes and I am seeing so many things for the first time. On those special moments when downloading photos and I have that "Ahhhhhhh" moment, or that photo that brings tears to my eyes, or a smile to my face, I feel humbled and grateful. It is so easy for me to get lost in the shot, sometimes taking dozens of photos of the same scene; the same flower, leaf, landscape, person ~ whatever image I may be shooting. I continue to pray to always see through the eye of the lens the photograph that God wants me to see. From the first photo I shot, to the most recent, I...
